Testimonials from Sesame fans:
"Sesame truly blows other smart locks out of the water. It's so easy to use, installation is so simple a 2 year old could do it, and I have yet to have to change the battery still!" - Andrew A.
"My partner and I have started opening up our guest bedroom to guests on AirBnB, and we use Sesame for this purpose. It is revolutionary! Thank you for making things so much easier for us!" - Tracy M.
"I have a 2 year old and a front door with a deadbolt. Sesame gives me peace of mind she isn't going to open the door and leave the safety or our home. It is especially helpful when guests come over and may not remember to lock the deadbolt after entry. Looking forward to purchasing another one soon!" - R.
“I was among the first people to sign up on Kickstarter for the Sesame and have been using mine for some time now. On June 8 I fell from a ladder inside my house and broke my hip. I am 81 and live alone and was lying on the floor realizing that I was not going to be able to get up. Luckily I ALWAYS keep my cell phone in my shirt pocket and so was able to call 911. As I was doing this I also realized that my front door was locked and that the paramedics would not waste time but would break the door to get in. Thank goodness for Sesame. I opened the app, unlocked the door and let the 911 operator know that the door was unlocked. That saved me from a huge expense to repair a broken front door. Thanks Sesame.” - Angelo M.
10 Reasons to Buy the Sesame Smart Lock
1. Installing Sesame is so fast and easy, your grandma can do it
We are 100% serious about how simple it is to install Sesame. You don't need to have a screwdriver or ever find out what the inside of a lock looks like. There's definitely no need to hire a handyman at, what, more than $100 for installing a smart lock? Psh, that's ridiculous.
Installing Sesame is as easy as removing the adhesive backing and attaching Sesame over your existing deadbolt lock. THAT'S IT. It can literally be done in less than 30 seconds. No need to look at complicated manuals or fiddle with lock mechanics. Rip off adhesive backing, press Sesame over lock, BOOM. You're done.
Frequent mover? Living in a rental? Removing Sesame is as easy as its installation, and best of all, it doesn't leave a trace. You don't have to wonder where you placed those lock parts your removed or locate your screwdriver. Just carefully lift the adhesive tab parallel to the door and Sesame will peel right off. Simply change the adhesive and you're ready to install Sesame in your new home.
2. Lighten your pockets by leaving the keys at home
You always leave the house with your phone, wallet, and keys.
With mobile payment methods becoming more and more widespread, most of the time you don't even need to take cash or cards with you any more. These days, many of us are down to phone and key.
Well, there's no way we're getting rid of the phone (something something cold dead hands), so since your wallet is now an app, why not your key as well? With the Sesame smart lock app on your smartphone, you can say goodbye to your key. Best of all, now your key will stop scratching up all your other precious belongings.
Ditch the wallet, ditch the keys - keep them on your phone and maximize minimalism. And more space for snacks!
3. Unlock your door with a knock on your phone
Think taking out your phone out to unlock the door isn't enough of an upgrade over taking out your keys? Leave your phone in your pocket! Set up knock to unlock and you can unlock your door by knocking lightly on your phone three times.
4. Let Sesame lock and unlock the door for you, just like magic
What's better than unlocking your door with a knock? Not having to do anything at all.
If taking out your phone to use the Sesame app or knocking on your phone to unlock isn't easy enough, you can let Sesame unlock without you lifting a finger. Sesame can sense when you're approaching your door and unlock it for you automatically. Come home, walk up the steps, BAM! Door's unlocked because Sesame recognized you. Don't even need to touch your phone. Now tell me that's not gonna impress your friends.
Even better, Sesame can automatically lock your door for you too. Always forgetting to lock the door behind you? Now you don't need to wonder if you've left your door unlocked. Sesame can lock the door for you and give you peace of mind. No more running back home to check the door or leaving your comfy bed to make sure.
5. Have full control over guest access, including times and dates
Some people are happy to hide a spare key under the second planter on the right, but some of us want a more sophisticated (and secure) solution.
With Sesame, you don't need to make copies of your keys for family members, wait around to open the door for service providers, or arrange complicated key exchanges with houseguests.
All you need to do to grant access is enter your guest's email address and set up their access times according to your needs. For close friends and family? Unrestricted access (or maybe daily 9am-10pm access if you love sleeping). Dog-walking or cleaning service? Let them open your door every Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm-5pm. Houseguest? Their virtual key only works for the first two weeks of July. They'll have access on their phones and be able to unlock your door with the Sesame app.
Better yet, you can revoke access at any time without affecting anyone else's access. No need to change the locks or give out new passcodes for friends and family to memorize - it's easy as pie to grant and revoke access from your Sesame app.
6. Keep tabs on your door by viewing the history log and know who's been opening your door and when
Now that you've got people coming in and out thanks to how easy it is to manage guest access, it's understandable you'll want to know who's been unlocking your door and when. Sesame will keep an eye on the door for you 24/7 so you're never out of the loop.
Every action taken by Sesame will be logged, along with information on whether your door was locked or unlocked manually, by a particular user, or by Sesame.
And since everything is time-stamped, you won't need to stay up all night for proof that your teenager didn't come home til 2am.
7. Delegate guest management and history review to a manager so you don't have to do everything yourself
With great power comes great responsibility, and sometimes it can start to feel like a burden. Not to fear! When the absolute power of managing guest access and reviewing history for Sesame starts to feel like too much, you can just dump it all on someone else. Yay!
Add a trusted friend or family member and they can help shoulder the task of adding or removing guests. They can also keep an eye on the log so you don't need to check it yourself.*
They won't be able to affect your own access, but they WILL be able to add or remove as many guests as they want, so make sure your manager is someone you trust!
8. Your key will still work
Want to make sure the spare key you gave to your grandma will still work? No worries! Even with Sesame installed on your door, the original key will still work just like it used to. No need to force everyone to switch to the app, Sesame is non-discriminatory and accepts both physical and virtual keys!
9. Military-grade encryption means bad guys will regret trying to hack Sesame
I don't know who would bother hacking Sesame. Personally if I were planning a break-in I'd probably go with the classic rock-through-a-window method, but hey, what do I know, I'm not an expert burglar/spy.
But the good news is that if someone, for some unfathomable reason, wanted to hack your Sesame, they're not gonna have a good time. Sesame is AES-256-GCM and TLS 1.2 encrypted, which means that whoever is trying to hack your Sesame will probably wish they'd spent that time looking for a good, solid rock instead.
10. Long battery life - up to 500 days!
Concerned about having to continually purchase new batteries for Sesame? Don't be! Sesame can last more than a year on a set of batteries, and it'll even let you know when it's time to get new ones so you don't have to worry about an out-of-power Sesame. A pair of Panasonic CR123A batteries can last up to 500 days... which is longer than some other things in life.
