Google I/O 2018

We're thrilled to have participated in Google I/O 2018, which took place earlier this month! We’re were introduced as a Google partner at the session on integrating smart home devices with Google Assistant. The Sesame Google Assistant Action is available now, but we will be working closely with Google to introduce deeper integrations in the future, so stay tuned for more information on our partnership with Google.

Wi-Fi Access Point Integrations

We’re pleased to have added IFTTT, Google Assistant, and Amazon Alexa integration so far, and we will be working on Apple Watch and Siri support next, so stay tuned!

Quick note about the Google Action and Alexa Skill - currently you can only lock Sesame and request status via Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Unlocking Sesame is not allowed due to security limitations put in place by Google and Amazon, and unfortunately we can’t override them to include an unlock action. If you want to unlock via Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, please use IFTTT applets instead.

If you already have your Wi-Fi Access Point, please see this link for setup instructions for the Wi-Fi Access Point. Once you have your Wi-Fi Access Point setup, you will be able to connect to Sesame remotely, enable notifications, and use the following integrations:

Please note that to use the features listed above, you must be the owner of your Sesame, have it paired with a Wi-Fi Access Point, and enable Cloud Integration by going to Sesame Status > Change Settings > Integration. If you don’t do these things your Sesame will not be available for linking! We apologize for the lack of clarity on this point and have updated the login screen with this information. We are working to add more features and integrations to Sesame so please stay tuned for updates, and please don't hesitate to reach out to us at if you have any further questions.

Wi-Fi Access Point Shipping Update

Thank you to everyone who sent in address update/confirmations or replied to our emails requesting your shipping information! We’ve been working hard to fulfill preorders as inventory allows.

We’ve currently waiting for the next batch of inventory to get here. The lead time is longer for this batch because we’ve made some additional improvements to the Wi-Fi Access Point hardware based on feedback from our beta testers and early users. A small percentage of users reported connectivity issues with their Wi-Fi Access Points, and we wanted to address the cause of this issue and lower the defective rate for future shipments. We decided to take some time to upgrade the internal hardware in order to lower the defective rate.

Unfortunately, tweaking the hardware does introduce an additional delay, but it was important to us to improve the Wi-Fi Access Point reliability, as it wasn’t performing up to our standards consistently enough based on feedback from our users. We want our users to find it a breeze to get the Wi-Fi Access Point working rather than spending their time troubleshooting and waiting for a replacement, and we’re confident that this next batch will perform more consistently than the previous ones thanks to the hardware upgrade.

We currently expect to receive the next inventory shipment to our US warehouse in 2-3 weeks. Please be sure to confirm or update your address with us, either by emailing us your 1) order number 2) shipping address and 3) phone number, or responding to the email update request we will send you, so we can ship your preorder once we have inventory.
